Shri Sanjay Sharma took charge as Director (Solar) of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) on 28th March, 2022.
He has around 36 years of rich experience, showcasing his expertise across the managerial, technical, contractual, commercial, legal, and regulatory facets of the Power Sector. His professional journey has been marked by significant contributions in the areas of transmission, generation, and scheme implementation. He joined Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in September 2015 from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID). Since then, he has been a key force in driving innovation and growth in Renewable Energy initiatives, including the Green Hydrogen Economy.
He joined SECI when it was at scratch level and now SECI is a brand name in RE - globally. He was also instrumental in making SECI as Youngest Navratna Company within a period of 9 years (shortest) after SECI becoming commercial company in 2015. His leadership led to the award of approximately 50 GW of RE projects, which invited investments of approx. INR 2.50 lakh crores from across the globe, along with fostering infrastructure development and employment generation in India. SECI, under his guidance, has commissioned approx. 20 GW Solar PV projects (under developer mode), out of the total 100 GW Solar projects commissioned in India.
Academically, he holds a B.Tech. (Hons) degree and an MBA, and is a Certified Energy Auditor as well as a Certified Project Manager.
