Experience |
Prior to joining SECI, he worked in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change as Secretary, Govt. of India. He has also worked with NITI Aayog, Ministry of Coal and has experience in corporate management, economics, statistics planning and program implementation. His areas of expertise are energy, environment, climate change, decarbonization strategies, carbon market & trading, sustainability, resource efficiency and material recycling, forest and wildlife. |
Achievements |
His strong focus and leadership skills have helped SECI to unveil India's largest solar-battery project, pioneering renewable energy innovation in Chhattisgarh, with a 100 MW solar project integrated with a 40 MW/120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), which was dedicated to the nation by the Hon’ble Prime Minister in February 2024. Further, 1.7 MW Solar project in Lakshadweep accompanied by a 1.4 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) was also commissioned in January 2024 and dedicated to the nation by Hon’ble PM, which is the region's first on-grid solar project with state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technology. Over the anticipated technical lifespan of the project, it is expected to massively reduce the diesel consumption and offset 58,000 tonnes CO2 emissions.
With his resilient leadership, SECI has achieved the prestigious ‘Navratna’ status, reflecting the organization’s significant contributions to the renewable energy sector. Under his guidance, SECI brought out tenders for production of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives with the aim of making India the global hub for its production, usage and export. The innovative concept of firm and dispatchable power was realized through issuance of 5 GW of FDRE tenders. Additionally, in FY 2023-24, SECI awarded over 8.44 GW RE capacity which is the highest in the last three years. Furthermore, with his forward-looking vision, SECI is on the path of expanding its CAPEX footprint also.

He joined SECI in Sept 2015 from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) and has been appointed to the Board of Directors of SECI as Director (Solar) on 28.03.2022 where he continues to drive innovation and growth in Renewable Energy initiatives including Green Hydrogen Economy |

1. Joined SECI when it was at scratch level and now SECI is brand name in RE - globally. 2. Instrumental in making SECI as Youngest Navratna Company within a period of 9 years (shortest) after SECI becoming commercial company in 2015. 3. Award of approx. 50 GW RE projects, which invited investment of approx. INR 2.50 lac crores from across the globe apart from development of infrastructure and employment creation in India. 4. 32 years of experience in Financial Management, Financial Reporting,
Corporate Taxation, Strategic business decisions and Treasury Management in
Steel, Power & Infrastructure Sector. Before his appointment as Director
(Finance) in SECI, he had been working as Group General Manager (Finance) and
Company Secretary in RITES Limited. He also worked in NTPC – SAIL Power
Company Limited (NSPCL) and SAIL – Bhilai Steel Plant. He is also
Director in the Board of Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL). He is also
the Director Incharge of HR & Administration, Information Technology
& Corporate Planning of SECI. Achievements He was
recognised for his contribution in SAIL, NSPCL & RITES during his tenure
of service there. In NSPCL, he was responsible for mobilisation of funds for
its expansion projects and received appreciation for its maiden Bond
issuance. In RITES, he was instrumental in automation of various Employee
claim processes and Vendor bill management. In RITES, under his leadership, the
Company Secretary Cell was recognised as best Department in the FY 2021-22
for highest standard of Corporate Governance. In SAIL, he received Jawahar
Lal Nehru Award for his contribution in Vendor Bill Management. Qualifications He is an
MBA and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute
of Cost Accountants of India & Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
He has also received Strategy, Creativity and Leadership inputs from Singapore
Institute of Management. He has also attended various leadership program,
such as Program on ‘Financial Markets’ conducted by National Stock Exchange,
Program on Private Public Partnership conducted by AIMA and various programs
on Management of Risk, International Trade & FEMA, etc.

Prior to joining SECI, Shri Sivakumar served at NTPC Green Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd as Chief General Manager responsible for engineering, contracts, commercial and regulatory, business development and carbon trading functions. He was also the maiden CEO of the JV company of NTPC Green Energy Ltd and IOC Ltd. |

He has been instrumental in bringing up 40MW Ayodhya City Solar Project from concept to commissioning in record time. His initiative over a decade ago, in conceptualizing and commissioning the first floating solar demo project of 100 kW at NTPC, Kayamkulam, paved the way for large-scale floating solar projects in the country. |
